Kirsten and Matt first contacted me through my webpage looking for a florist for their June wedding. They did not live in Northampton, although both work nearby so I was able to be flexiable with meeting them for an appointment. I often have couples who are no local and this has never been a problem.
They were getting married in a church in Matt’s home village of Lemington Hastings and the reception was in a marquee in his parents garden. The wedding colours were blush Pink – or Rose Pink with Navy suits and immediately I suggested Memory Lane Roses, Amnesia Roses and Mentha Roses alongside Vendella Roses which are a gorgeous soft Peach. Of course June is Peony season so they were featured in the bouquets and venue flowers.
Kirsten opted for a loose natural – but rounded – handtied bouquet with smaller versions for her sisters to carry, the buttonholes were in a traditional style – a single Avalanche Rose alongside a Thistle and the ladies had traditional style corsages.
The beautiful village church – which was actually next door to Matt’s parents’ house – was decorated with some simple pew-ends of Roses and organza ribbon and a large pedestal design was placed at the front of the church (later this was moved to the marquee)
On the tables there was a collection of 3 jam-jars filled with seasonal flowers placed on small wooden logs – a nice touch was that these were cut from a fallen tree on the property – a rustic flag was added to indicate the table number.
It was a pleasure to work with Kirsten and Matt to design and make their wedding flowers. It is not always easy planning a wedding from afar but I hope that when couples trust me to create their wedding flowers I take any additional stress away from them and make the planning process run smoothly.
