With Love and Roses

Lauren contacted me for a wedding flower quote and after meeting with her I was really hoping I’d get to design her florals. Greenery, greenery and more greenery alongside classic whites was the brief. Lauren’s reception was held in a marquee and rather than the usual ‘rustic country’ look many couples go for,  she visioned a ‘rustic elegance’ with stunning rose gold lanterns on the tables surrounded by garlands of Ruscus, Eucalyptus, Gypsophila.

 

Lauren wanted a large, full, luscious bouquet of greenery dotted with Avalanche Roses, Freesia and Veronica which had a classic, yet rustic, look. Her Bridesmaid’s carried lovely fluffy balls of Gypsophila, with a smaller version for her Flowergirl.

 

I love a Church wedding, I love decorating the already beautiful buildings with flowers. I designed some full pew ends for the pews, alternating down the aisle and placed two large milk churns outside the doors framing the entrance. These were then moved to the venue afterwards, I am a great believer in re-purposing arrangements from the ceremony to your reception. I am available to do the moving for you but most couples give the task to a wedding guest or an usher.

 

At the venue Lauren had DIY’d some gorgeous trailing Ruscus around the marquee poles – I provided the foliage to her which she collected the week of her wedding. I placed loose, natural foliage wreaths around her lanterns and dotted with some beautiful Avalanche Roses. Lauren’s mum had made her beautiful cake and a last minute change of plan meant a slight change in the flowers for the cake. It ended up with three cake toppers, of fresh flowers to complement the wedding colours, theme and style and I decorated the table with fresh foliage. The cake table was featured at the top of the marquee and was a lovely addition to the décor.
